When a Sumatran rat-monkey bites Lionel Cosgrove's mother, she's transformed into a zombie. She begins killing (and transforming) the entire town while Lionel races to keep things under control. Events culminate at a house party that turns into a blood-drenched zombie buffet.

Night Tide
In this moody black-and-white thriller, a lonely sailor on leave (Dennis Hopper) falls hard for a girl (Linda Lawson) who plays a mermaid in a carnival on the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles. Dead or Alive Final

Faust
As a nameless Czech everyman (Petr Cepek) exits a subway station, a stranger hands him a map that ultimately draws the man to his doom. The diagram leads to a nightmarish theater where he takes on the mantle of Faust, unwittingly summons Mephistopheles and loses his soul in the bargain. Director Jan Svankmajer's imaginative film employs stop-motion animation, special effects, Claymation and live action to achieve the movie's surrealistic effect.

He Was a Quiet Man
Cubicle worker Bob (Christian Slater) is a resentful outsider who's started carrying a gun in case he gets up the courage to use it on some of his co-workers. But when one of those co-workers starts shooting, Bob guns him down and becomes an inadvertent hero. Bob's newfound popularity makes him uncomfortable, even as he grows closer to Vanessa (Elisha Cuthbert), who was badly wounded in the shooting. William H. Macy co-stars in this quirky drama.

Night and Fog

Raw Meat
A young couple spies a sickly drunk in London's underground railway system, and it turns out the man is a displaced member of British high society. When the police (led by Donald Pleasence) follow a trail of tube station crimes, they stumble upon a group of former underground rail construction workers who were trapped in a tunnel collapse during the Victorian era. Those who survived have done so via cannibalism and must be stopped.

Stacy
This surrealistic horror film by Japanese director Naoyuki Tomomatsu begins with the strange deaths of teenage girls all around the world. Apparently, the girls die soon after they reach a peculiar state of sheer bliss and later reemerge as zombies out to stalk humans. With parents helpless to control their murderous, otherworldly children, the government leans on vigilante groups to hunt down the half-dead before they satisfy their bloodlust.

Versus: Director's Cut
Tak Sakaguchi is Prisoner KSC2-303, a criminal who has just escaped from a maximum-security prison. After he heads to the Forest of Resurrection to rendezvous with some gangsters, KSC2-303's escape plan veers off course when an argument with one of the gangsters leads to death. Worse still, KSC2-303 finds out the hard way that when you kill something in the Forest of Resurrection, it doesn't stay dead!

He resolves to use his remaining time to usher an insignificant but popular civic project, a children's playground, through the bureaucracy he knows so well. The acclaimed Akira Kurosawa directs.

Gruesome Twosome
The young ladies who come to stay at Mrs. Pringle's (Elizabeth Davis's) boarding house have a habit of disappearing. The culprit: Mrs. Pringle's son (Rodney Bedell), who's scalping the girls to supply mom's wig-making business. Sound wild? It's just another outrageous gem from director Herschell Gordon Lewis, who made some of the weirdest exploitation films from the 1960s and 1970s. Other cult classics from Lewis include Blood Feast and The Wizard of Gore.

This collection of six eerie episodes includes appearances by Lea Thompson, Amanda Plummer, M. Emmet Walsh, Audra Lindley, Joe Pantoliano and Robert Wuhl.

Stripes
Uncle Sam wants … Bill Murray? Yep. Murray stars as John Winger, an indolent sad sack who impulsively joins the Army after losing his job, car, girlfriend and apartment. For good measure, he cajoles his best friend (Harold Ramis) into enlisting, too. After making it through boot camp, the duo appropriates a state-of-the-art military vehicle for a weekend furlough, landing behind the Iron Curtain -- and into the midst of an international incident.

The Long Hair of Death
After witnessing her mother unjustly convicted of murder and burned at the stake as a witch, young Helen grows into a beautiful woman in the castle of her mother's accuser -- the rich and powerful Count Humboldt. Lusted after by the count's brutal son, Helen's now in position to avenge her mother's death and make good on her dying words: a curse on the inhabitants of the castle and nearby town. Barbara Steele and George Ardisson star.

Castle of Blood
Italian director Antonio Margheriti's eerie tale, based on Edgar Allan Poe's story "Danse Macabre," stars Georges Riviere as Alan Foster, a journalist who questions horror writer Poe's (Silvano Tranquilli) claim that his fiction is based on true adventures. Glenn bets Foster he can't spend a night in a castle populated by restless spirits. Foster's quick to accept the challenge, but soon discovers that the dead have a way of coming back to life.

The War of the Worlds
This Academy Award-winning adaptation of H.G. Wells's novel set the sci-fi standard for years to come. When a scorching meteorlike object crashes to Earth near a Southern California town, scientist Clayton Forrester (Gene Barry) waits three ill-fated days for the object -- a spaceship filled with Martians -- to cool. Meanwhile, the extraterrestrials continue to invade across the planet. It will take an unseen threat -- bacteria -- to conquer them.

It Came From Outer Space
Based on a Ray Bradbury story. An alien ship crashes in the Arizona desert, and the extraterrestrials assume the identities of the locals in order to buy enough time to make repairs. But one man (Richard Carlson) discovers the truth, and soon his wife is replaced by one of the aliens. Desperate to get her back, Carlson pleads with authorities to not kill the aliens.

Recorded in October 2002 at one of two huge arena shows in Scotland, this unique concert sees Paul Weller revisiting some Style Council and Jam material for the first time since going solo. "Town Called Malice," "Man in the Cornershop" and "Pretty Green," from the Jam's collective oeuvre, are all given an airing, as well as a smattering of Style Council material and highlights from Weller's solo career. Silver Streak

When a detective finally agrees to look into the case, he's bumped off as well. German-American director Fritz Lang presents his first "talkie" -- and cinema's first serial killer -- in this 1931 classic. Plump pedophile Hans Beckert (Peter Lorre), propelled by a compulsion he can't control, escapes the eye of the law -- but not the wrath of the Berlin underworld being blamed for his crimes. The character of Beckert was later used in Nazi propaganda films to illustrate the evils of sexual deviance.

Lured
Reminding us that Lucille Ball was a movie star long before she became small screen's darling, this 1947 London-set mystery (directed by melodrama master Douglas Sirk) features Ball as an American dance hall girl named Sandra who's searching for a missing friend. When Sandra learns that her friend may be the victim of a serial killer, she agrees to help Scotland Yard set a trap. The cast also includes George Sanders and Boris Karloff.

The Third Man
Who was Harry Lime? And who killed him? And is he really dead? These are just a few of the questions writer-turned-sleuth Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) tries to answer as he trolls the shadowy streets of postwar Vienna. Director Carol Reed turns Graham Greene's classic mystery into a film noir without equal. You'll be humming the zither theme for weeks!

Satan's Blood
Inspired in part by Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby, this lusty Spanish thriller was one of the first movies to receive the infamous "S" rating in Spain -- for sex. When a romantically bored couple reunites with old friends, agreeing to spend the night in their remote mansion home, they get a lot more than they bargained for -- and none of what they were hoping for. After all, just one night with a Ouija board is enough to scare them to death.

Duel
This is the 1971 TV movie that made studio executives take notice of a young Steven Spielberg. A businessman (Dennis Weaver) driving on an isolated highway is in a hurry to get to an appointment. He ends up in a game of road rage with the driver of a menacing big rig -- a driver we never see. The thrills and tension make Duel well worth a spin.

Alphaville

Brilliantly realized and crafted, Godard's 1965 film helped to lay the foundation for future sci-fi classics such as Blade Runner, The Terminator and The Matrix.

Infamous
Director Douglas McGrath's biographical drama stars Toby Jones as iconoclastic writer Truman Capote, whose investigation into the grisly murders of a rural Kansas family has unintended consequences. While probing the psyches of the killers (played by Daniel Craig and Lee Pace) as research for his soon-to-be best seller In Cold Blood, Capote forms an attachment to one of the convicted men. Sandra Bullock and Jeff Daniels also star.

Candy
Two young bohemians hooked on each other -- and on smack -- head down the path to perdition in this potent drama directed by Neil Armfield. Giddily in love, Dan (Heath Ledger) and Candy (Abbie Cornish) soon find themselves swept up in a vortex of addiction that inexorably unravels their relationship and their lives. Geoffrey Rush is outstanding as the indulgent chemistry professor (and functional junkie) who supplies the couple with heroin.

The Night of the Hunter
Bogus "preacher" Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum) learns that cellmate Ben Harper (Peter Graves) has stashed a passel of stolen loot on his property. After the demented Powell is released, he charms Ben's widow (Shelley Winters) into getting hitched, and in time, only Ben's kids stand between Powell and the money. As he stalks them relentlessly, they seek refuge with the indomitable Rachel Cooper (Lillian Gish), setting the stage for an inexorable battle of wills.

Henry & June
A sensual masterwork based on real events, this rich evocation of wild expatriate nights in 1930s Paris begins when writer Anaïs Nin embarks on a professional relationship with famed American author Henry Miller (Fred Ward). But their studious union deepens into something else. And when Nin falls under the spell of the alluring Mrs. Miller (Uma Thurman), fiction, fact and fantasy blur.

The Killing
In Stanley Kubrick's noir classic, career criminal Johnny Clay (Sterling Hayden) plans one last heist before settling down to a respectable life with Fay (Colleen Gray). James Mason's Humbert Humbert is uncontrollably attracted to jailbait teen Lolita (Sue Lyon). Mason knows no good can come of his pursuit, but he continues despite the overwhelming reasons to stop. Peter Sellers costars as Mason's nemesis, Clare Quilty.

The Departed
To take down South Boston's Irish Mafia, the police send in one of their own to infiltrate the underworld, not realizing the syndicate has done likewise in Martin Scorsese's multiple Oscar-winning crime thriller, including Best Director and Best Picture. While an undercover cop (Leonardo DiCaprio) curries favor with the mob kingpin (Jack Nicholson), a career criminal (Matt Damon) rises through the police ranks. But both sides soon discover there's a mole among them.
