Yuma

In this Western adventure, Dave Harmon (Clint Walker) is hired by the governor to clean up rough and wild Yuma, but the town's orneriest citizens set out to destroy the lawman's reputation and get him fired from his new job. Harmon takes his job seriously, but after he shoots a troublemaker, he finds himself up against the dead man's powerful brother, Arch King (Morgan Woodward). Barry Sullivan and Edgar Buchanan co-star.

The picture quality is not very good and the DVD has no special features or other menu options, but it is still worth watching for Western fans. The story is mostly predictable but with a twist or two to keep it interesting, and the acting is professional if not stellar. Clint Walker is good. If you have never seen the 50's TV series Cheyenne, he's kind of like Chick Conners in The Rifleman. Strong honest straight shooting tough guys you wouldn't want to mess with. The indians in this movie are played by white guys in make up. That's typical for when it was made, but that always irritated me, even when I was a kid. Another thing typical of these old Westerns is nobody bleeds when they get shot, even if it's at close range with a sawed-off shotgun. Overall the movie turned out to be about what I expected. I didn't love it, but I liked it, and I think most fans of old Westerns will too. If you are a fan of Clint Walker you will like it for sure. However if you don't particularly like him or the genre, you may find nothing here worth your while.
