In an attempt to play hero, a bumbling small-town deputy (Larry the Cable Guy) "saves" a well-heeled woman (Ivana Milicevic) from the four men holding her hostage. The fact that her captors were FBI agents never crossed his mind, but it doesn't mean his instincts were all wrong. Jenny McCarthy, Joe Mantegna and Richard Bull also star in this slapstick comedy written and directed by Charles Robert Carner.
Whether you love or hate Larry the Cable Guy, there is a good chance you are more familiar with him than I am. This is only the second time I've seen him. The first time was in Delta Farce which I really liked, so I thought this would probably be good too, and I wasn't disappointed. I like comedy. Especially comedy that is funny. There are a lot of sitcoms on TV that are considered comedies but to me they are just not funny. This is funny. In fact it's hilarious. This is slapstick. Stupid childish falling down fat redneck fart joke funny. If you require more sophistication than that, then you had better look elsewhere. I also like smart comedies, parodies, even British dry humor. But for laugh out loud, knee slapping, rolling on the floor stress relief, stupid comedies are hard to beat, and this is a good one. I would feel stupid not recommending it. So lighten up and watch this stupid funny movie, if you think you can stand it.
