In this film from Korea, Hyun-Shik (Yoosuk Kim), an ex-cop at the end of a long and emotionally depleting road, finds himself in his floating cabin contemplating suicide. He is troubled by the knowledge that he has killed the woman he once loved in a fit of jealousy. His plan is thwarted, however, by Hee-Jin (Jung Suh), a mysterious prostitute who won't speak but is determined to win his attention by any means necessary.
Hee-Jin rents floating fishing cabins on a scenic, isolated lake. She also sells bait, food and occasionally herself. Oh, one other thing. Shes mute. The only sound she utters through the entire film is a brief scream near the end. Hee-Jin takes care of her guests. But, when guests misbehave, Hee-Jin takes care of her guests. The Isle is a unique story. Its well done an full of surprises. This review is really short because Hee-Jin takes care of everything. This is not a horror movie, its a movie about a horror. I can pretty much guarantee she can also hold your attention. I hope my thoughts are helpful 05/17/08 ~~~Wingz

A twisted tale of obsession and beauty combined to form this eerie love tale. It is a story of people on the edge who are bound together in a silent and strange floating world of isolation. The Isle is not quite as disturbing as Bad Guy, at least not in the same way, but it has moments of violence, creepiness and some rather shocking scenes involving fish hooks and fish. If you are vehemently against animal cruelty if film, you'll probably want to take a pass. This film is a beautifully shot, both above and below water, and its female lead gives an outstanding performance without saying a single word. Recommended for people who enjoy unusual, surreal and beautiful films. If you like Miike's Audition, you'll probably like this film too.
