While vacationing with teenage son Chris (Jamie Anderson) in the wilderness, Ray Keene (John Cusack) discovers that a hired killer (Morgan Freeman) and his team of assassins are tracking the duo. Can Keene protect himself, his son and take down a first-class hit man before his bullet finds its mark? Directed by Bruce Beresford, this action-packed crime thriller also stars Ned Bellamy, Corey Johnson and Thomas Lockyer.
I dont have much to add that others havent said. Freeman and Cusak give solid performances but certainly not their best (you can only put so much lipstick on a pig). The cover drew me in because you expect great things from these men but the writing is just that bad. Some of the supporting bad guys were mildly entertaining, and there were even a couple plot twists that were semi-novel. However, there were glaring horrible writing cliches, father and son moments that made you want to gag they were so sentimentally nauseating and segments that were just not funny nor believable. The insanely bad writing for the local policeman was a vain attempt at humor that was infuriating. The token black guy was about as stereotypical as they come. All in all, save your eyes. Dont watch this film unless youre on a mission to see every Cusack or Freeman film ever made...and even then, its barely worth it.

Nice little suspense movie. Not too predictable. Thought it was weird Mr Grosse Pointe Blank himself would be going after a mercenary of sorts, but I'm probably the only one who even though of that. 4 out of 5 stars.

Fair movie I'll say, kept me watching for more action. I think It could have been better then what it is. Wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

This clunker looked good on the box. But this script has the feel of a screenwriting class all over it(and not a very good one). Horrible dialog, shallow characters, laughably bad script. This is a clunker. Save your valuable time.

"The Contract" is not a bad movie but not a great one either. Morgan Freeman and John Cusack are the primary actors and they make the film as good as it is. The story is that an ex-cop (Cusack) decides to prove he is as good as a top tier criminal by trying to bring a bad guy (Freeman) straight to the police. In the process, he puts himself and his son in danger. The acting is good; the script is okay and the action moves along at a reasonable pace. The movie may keep your interest but the story lacks a cohesive quality that makes an average movie into a very good film. Regular movie fans will probably get the feeling of having seen this story before. It isn't unique; the production is not first-rate and a 96 minute movie is stretching it beyond what it should have been. In short, this is a good "B" movie featuring a couple of first rate actors that improve the overall production.
