Once blissfully in love, Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) find themselves up in arms over custody of their upscale Chicago condo when petty spats about lemons and dirty dishes end their romance. An escalating battle of the exes ensues as Gary and Brooke continue to live under the same roof … while cooking up schemes to drive each other off the premises. Judy Davis delivers a wickedly funny performance as Brooke's diva boss.
First and Foremost...this is not a romantic comedy. Furthermore it is not a romance nor a comedy. If you watch assuming that, you will be sorely disappointed. There are funny parts and there are some sensitive parts but for many that have had adult relationships go sour or they grow out of it will be a "been there, done that" kinda movie. All that being said, I enjoyed the ending. I might be able to watch this movie again know what it is, but I was ticked at the theater.

Man this movie was not good. It was supposedly a romantic comedy. Except it had no romance, and little comedy. It did have a decent ending, although it wasn't worth sitting through the movie for. And what was up with fat Vaughn and fat Favreau? Seriously, we're supposed to not only believe Vaughn can get Aniston, but that a fat Vaughn can do so? Please...

As the three stars suggest, I liked the movie. It was nothing spectacular, but it had it's moments. With such a great cast I expected a lot more laughs but only found mild humor. The movie was a bit long for the story and I found the ending to be disappointing.

Good parts: Judy Davis and the Tone Rangers. Bad: everything else. I have liked Jennifer Aniston in some of her other movies and on Friends, but Vince Vaughn's writing just wasn't that funny. When the scene didn't involve Judy Davis or the Tone Rangers, I found myself not laughing but only a few times. The idea for the movie was great, but needs a better writer.

This movie was awful. All I wanted was a formulaic romantic comedy: the funny parts of breaking up, the annoying jabs at eachother, and then the realization that they were wrong, and the big kiss at the end. This movie killed shot the formula in the foot, and I ended up having to watch Family Guy episodes afterwards to soothe my depressed soul. Don't waste two hours of your life on this!

Not to be a spoiler, but they break -up. But not the break up where there's a misunderstanding and things get back on track with humuor woven through. This is a hardcore DEPRESSING movie. They fight and yell and do horrible things and then split. It's the opposite for what you hope for, and it really leaves you sad.

That pretty muchs somes it up...I didn't hate it but it was all over the place and a lot of the scens were just uncomfortable. Not Vinces finest.

The Break-Up isnt especially funny although it has its chuckle-worthy moments. Its definitely not romantic as the couple fight thru most of the movie. And Im not talking War of the Roses fight
more like a REAL fight. If I want to see that, Ill just piss of the wife and see it for free. And thats it. The fight is basically the entire movie. Yeah, theres a bit of a subplot with the brother of Vince Vaughn and theres a deeper message to the movie for those willing to listen. But is that enough to make a movie with? Is that a passable plot? Meh. Not really.

ireviewnetflix.com rating: * This movie was as bad as I thought it would be. It started bad and just got worse. I just didn't care about this couple at all and didn't care if they got back together or not. There's something about Jennifer Aniston in movies that just rubs me the wrong way. I don't think there's a single movie she's been in that I enjoy. Add Vince Vaughn and it's a real crapfest. Sad that the leads had to bring down a great supporting cast. Just limped along for over an hour and a half.
