Two homicide detectives are on a desperate hunt for a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) whose crimes are based on the Seven Deadly Sins. The dark and haunting film takes viewers from the tortured remains of one victim to the next. The seasoned Det. Sommerset (Morgan Freeman) researches the Seven Deadly Sins in an effort to get inside the killer's mind, while his novice hotshot partner, Mills (Brad Pitt), scoffs at his efforts to unravel the case.
I've become tired of hearing people claim the Saw series as great films because a surprise ending does not make a film good. Seven, like Saw, is about a killer who tortures people to teach a lesson, but here we are caught up by a story-line that is about the hunt for the mastermind behind the homicides. Freeman and Pitt are both excellent in their rolls and they bring an excellent contrast to one another. The movie has its surprises at the end but they are not what the film is about; and although the ending leaves something to be desired, there is plenty of poetic justice to leave me content.

Hannibal who? Brad Pitt and and Morgan Freeman star in, for my money, the best serial killer flick to spawn out of this over-extended genre. Creepy and disgusting, "Se7en" (I love writing that) manages to hit all the right emotional extremes without being overplayed. And that ending? Heart-stomping. You might not feel the same way about humanity when it's over.

This is quite possibly my favorite movie. Brilliant casting, dismal city setting, and amazing writing and direction all combine to pull off a hauntingly grotesque mind-f**k that will stay with you forever. 5 stars!

Dark and disturbing, this classic cop flick is a must-see. With a top notch cast and an intensity rarely seen, Se7en cements itself into the best this genre has to offer.

I remember the look and feel of this film was just so incredible, it was like nothing I had ever seen before, and I had huge expectations for the directorsÂ’ subsequent films. Brad Pitt shows once again that he is one of the best actors of his generation not just a male model, Morgan Freeman is terrific as usual and Gwyneth really centers the film as the beautiful wife. I suppose this film owes a nod to Science Of The Lambs as so many psychological thrillers that came after that masterpiece but I think it has created a niche of its own and is certainly worth any thriller or horror fans time.
