Chaos reigns at the natural history museum when night watchman Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) accidentally stirs up an ancient curse, awakening Attila the Hun, an army of gladiators, a T. rex and other exhibits. Larry tries desperately to keep marauding Neanderthals and Mayans in check, fighting a losing battle until President Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) comes to the rescue. Owen Wilson and Dick Van Dyke co-star in this family-friendly fantasy.
Night at the Museum (2006) is a fun old-fashioned movie, in that it's not cynical about family, not disrespectful of adults or parents or education or tradition and it shows that crime doesn't pay, but hard work does. Very few objectionable words, no sexual jokes, no smoking, no drinking, very mild violence. It has good messages and themes, interesting characters, lots of humor, and a happy ending. Children who aren't jaded or cynical or over-stimulated by violent video games will enjoy it.

Cute moments in the movie. Owen Wilson played a good Owen Wilson. Ben Stiller reminded me of other roles he's played. Plot a bit predictable at times, with a hole here or there. But, what do you expect from a movie about wax statues coming to life at night? Three out of Five Stars.

Good combination of history, comedy, and family film. I like most of Ben Stillers movies and this is another good one. Good twist in the story.

This is a great movie for kiddies. A good movie for family night although adult and older children may find the humor childish and silly. All star cast doesn't help very much with making this film notable. The middle of this movie lags sooo much it makes it a little hard to watch it all the way through. I'm not saying I hated it, not at all its great to see a movie that makes you miss being a kid again. The creativity of the movie is an a plus. Just wish they had made it a little more adult friendly as well. Only bump this one up in your queue if you got a kid in the house. If not just use it as a filler.

I saw this movie on the big screen (a must -- though we missed the IMAX screening due to highway construction). I had to see Rexy in action. (Fetch, boy!) This movie is a strong entry in the special effects and feel-good categories and a positive entry in the moral-of-the-story category too. Lots of laughs, lots of fun! I esp. enjoyed Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney. Ricky Gervais as the inarticulate museum curator was a stitch. Owen Wilson can do no wrong. Ben Stiller is excellent with physical humor and could have been given much more; he was mostly playing his put-upon-bozo schtick with the "Yeah, no, got it!" but clearly out of his league -- until he comes into his own and pulls things together. The moral of the story is about the courage of persistence, of being a great person in the daily tasks, of faithfulness and making a difference no matter where you find yourself. There's a good lesson in book learning and museum learning too, which can't hurt in our days when "test your knowledge of Spongebob Squarepants trivia" (a real Nick commercial seen today) is too often the norm. This is a fine family film -- with a PG rating for bits of rough language and battle violence -- that may have you dancing at the end too. 4.5 stars.

Want some silly fun for an afternoon? This is your movie. The museum literally "coming to life" was the best part- the dinosaur skeleton, the gladiators and cowboys, etc. A good clean movie for the kids. I am sure my young nieces and nephews will love it.

Clearly targeted at kids, this flick features a moderately interesting story with iffy special effects (by todays standards). It's a fun movie but the plot is ultimately predictable and the acting very average. Needless to say, I wasn't overly impressed.

Each of my 4 boys(ages 4-10)loved this movie! And it was enjoyable for me & my hubby to sit through as well. It is touching without getting too mucked up with mush and gets the audience cheering for Ben Stillers character. Yeah, they probably went over budget on so many big-names playing the smaller roles, but they do make it extra fun seeing so many talents. This one makes for a great family room night at the movies!
