Faced with almost certain destruction of her planet's natural resources, warrior princess Nausicaa rallies her people against an evil queen's rampaging army in an effort to give her homeland a new lease on its future. Hayao Miyazaki directs this environmentally conscious anime that transports viewers to a magical place -- the Valley of the Wind -- where the ultimate showdown between good and evil will play out. Includes a voice talent featurette.
This is an instant Miyazaki classic and has replaced Princess Mononoke as my favorite Miyazaki film. I actually didn't get to see this until this DVD version was released, and imagine my delight at discovering that Miyazaki is in top form here. One of the few films ever to get me genuinely interested in the fate of the characters, and I actually wept at the end of the film. Say what you will about the 'dated' animation, this is a work of art, each frame can be frozen and used as pieces in a museum as far as I'm concerned.

Another fabulous offering from Miyazaki and Disney. Well crafted adaption with American/English speaking actors. Patrick Stewart is particularly good in this one. More of Miyazaki's pro ecological--Anti War stance that comes off less preachy and self righteous than other film attempts. I throughly enjoyed this outing--Miyazaki continues to amaze and enertain and teach me. This film is more violent than some of the other Miyazaki offerings with battle scenes, some gun violence, and sword play--parents take notice--I would call it PG, with a leaning towards PG-13. Special Features are pretty generous, so all in all, worth the view!
