Not as bad as I was expecting. Acting isn't that great and it seems like the dialogue mixing is way off at times, but it could have just been my blu-ray player acting up. Normally I would have given this one only 3 stars, but the main female lead is extremely hot and she has barely any, if any, clothes on for most of the movie, so that added a star.

worthless. poor movie. wooden acting. all over the map. this movie is proof positive of the statement/rumor that video game based movies do NOT work. Don't rent if a fan of the game, will make you mad

This movie wasn't half bad. I really enjoyed the fight scenes and the "love story" wasn't annoying at ALL!! I'll probably watch it again. I really had a difficult time figuring out what was going on but that's my bad and not the movie's.

Good action no plot. That is really all you need to know. The plot is thin and confusing the action is fast and good.

I was excited to see this movie. I have never played the game, but the preview looked great. That was almost 2 hours of my life I will never get back. There are so many reasons to hate this movie I will try to limit my comments to a few. There is no plot. I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece, but come on how about a story? This was a clear case of the movie being green lighted without a script written. Hollywood sends us a bait and switch preview that talks about how he does God’s bidding and that is not even in the movie. In fact the general feel of the preview is not even conveyed in the film. The really sad part about this is, Hollywood will continue to put crap like this out and wonder why people are waiting for rental.

For one, there's too much Transporter & XXX in this movie, which I suppose are the obvious references to draw from. I never played the game it's based on so I can't compare the two, but it's the little things in the movie that really bothered me. For instance, the Interpol cop had "your ribs are broken" translated for him from Russian and then 5 minutes later is listening intently to a conversation in Russian with complete understanding. The dialogue switches from Russian to English in the same scene for no reason except I guess forcing people to read too many subtitles is mean. The attention to detail is practically non existent, and that's what I noticed most. That, and I have no idea who I'm supposed to be rooting for - nobody is a clear hero OR anti-hero, all of the characters are muddled together and pretty one dimensional. I guess I'm not at the point yet where I call a movie good if I can enjoy it mindlessly.

One of the best game-to-movie adaptions, but not good enough to keep me from fast forwarding through the predictable parts.

I really liked it! This movie is a perfect example of a great action flick. You have some great gun battles, you have sword play, you have espionage tactics, you have some comedic elements of the hitman, explosions, and cat and mouse games where you know neither who is the cat nor who is the mouse. The only problem with it is that there is nothing new in what is added. Of course, I believe, if you have enough elements to it and your characters aren't one dimensional this storyline is good to this day. I don't know why a lot of people didn't like this flick. I played the video game and saw elements of the game in here. We have at times a few shots of behind-over the top third person exactly like you have in the video game. The only thing I couldn't stand in this movie was a clear plug for the game is shown in the movie. Agent 47 crashes through a window and the kids in the room are playing Hitman. The problem I have with that, is that it's the main focus of the shot when you see it. I like my little cameos hidden a bit or not the focus and you kinda have to notice it and it makes it that much more special. I have to say that this is probably one of the best video game movies I've seen. You have elements from the game incorporated into the movie but the story could have survived without the game. You get to see Agent 47 take on discuses like in the game, you get to see the piano wire like in the game, he walks like he does in the game, he even holds his sniper rifle when he's walking like he does in the game. I really hope to see more Hitman movies. I really don't know why people don't like this movie. It stays true to the source material while improving on it and making it seem like a movie with game like moments in it.

I did not know that this movie was based on a video game. Since I know nothing about the character I assume I am missing some of the background story line but it did not effect my enjoyment of this picture. The locations were excellent and looked great. I almost seemed like a Bond movie. A mostly typical story about an assassin who kills for money. The tables are turned and he becomes a target and must discover who is trying to terminate him. It gets a little confusing with Interpol, the Russian police, the CIA and the secret organization that he works for all attempting to kill him. To top it off he shows the first crack in his amour when he sort of falls for the girl who has been treated badly by the Russian President or is it the Russian President. There are some elements of the old "Face Off" plot in this picture. Caution: Olga Kurylenko is nude in some scenes. This movie looks good, is confusing, but I really liked it and am hoping for a sequel.

Disappointing. This film is based on the popular video game, however I was hoping it would be more interesting. I found the stunts and fight seens to be quite cool, but the rest of the film just seemed so "flat". Agent 47 is a very methodical, cold individual but even still you would expect by the end of the movie that you would feel SOMETHING toward his character, whether it be hated, or like, or sympathy or just SOMETHING. However I found myself unable to attach to the character as it just seemed too rough or unfinished, very vague about why is is and how he is and really if you haven't played the game I think you might be asking a lot of questions as well. I'm not sure what to tell you on this one really other then if I was you I wouldn't bother with it. Action:Great, Script: So-So, Plot: Lacking.

I enjoyed watching this movie on several points. Yes it was a total shoot 'em up kill them all, what really impressed me was the correlation between this movie and the series Dark Angel staring Jessica Alba. The company neither acknowledged or stated created super humans to become hitmen and women, the only clue to their identity is the bar code on the back of their necks. What I liked about Hitman was that there was no EMP pulse which in turn took us back to a pre-computerized age. The whole what if scenario that Dark Angel hinted at but never explored.

Like most movies based on video games, this one certainly has it's flaws; little character depth, stereotyped characters and a twisty but mostly nonsense plot. I'm also not sure I like Timothy Olyphant in this blood, babes and bullets assassin role originally intended for Vin Diesel. But the action itself is impressive and somehow manages to hold the movie together until the predictable, but ultimately satisfying, end. And despite likely comparisons, it *is* better than a Uwe Boll movie. With adjusted expectations at least fans of the video game should find something to enjoy here. For the rest of us, it's likely to be a mixed bag.

This movie was enjoyable. I think fans of the games will enjoy it somewhat more than someone who's never played the games. It was kind of cool to see Agent 47 outside of the video game world. The plot was mediocre at best, but the action scenes, which were spectacular, keep your interest long enough to finish out the movie. Timothy Olyphant was perfect for Agent 47; Vin Diesel himself couldn't have done it better. If you go into this knowing that video game movies typically aren't good and lower your expectations a bit, you'll be able to enjoy an action-packed movie about an emotionless (well...mostly emotionless) hitman. 3 May 2008

I really liked this movie. The action was intense at times and there were some of the best fight scenes I'd ever seen. The movie tended to jump around to much and it wasn't realistic in many ways, but after all it was based on a video game. Olyphant's acting was wooden and it would have been better for him to talk less. However, it was highly entertaining with the tension and great action. Comic relief in a few scenes, but guns were a blazing throughout! For an action flim it really delivered a punch. Raised from a child to be a hitman, he would grow up to be the best. After his last hit, he becomes the target and that's when things really heat up. Very good movie and well worth a watch. 4 stars. 7/28/08

Yeah, I liked HITMAN okay, but it was nothing special. Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47 was serviceable enough, but I couldn't help but imagine how kickbutt this movie would have been with Jason Statham in the lead. The story was your standard Jason Bourne-type revenge story, often seeming like a live-action video game, which I suppose is fitting. I wouldn't watch it again, but I don't regret watching it once.

For a guy who never misses a shot, the hitman manages to shoot around the bullseye several times. That, my friend, is a metaphor for this movie. I really wanted to like this movie, cause the previews looked fantastic. But it was boring. And confusing. What was it about? Maybe it's my fault for assuming that a movie named Hitman would be about the hitman, how he came to be, who put him there, etc. Nope. Instead, it was about a very stupid, confusing job that he was on. The stuff in the previews with the kids, that was snipped from episodes of the (VASTLY SUPERIOR) television show Dark Angel. SPOILER SPACE So apparently, the hitman is given a job to kill the president of Russia. He does so, only to find out the guy is still alive and is only grazed. What follows is a convoluted story whereby the president has a double, just in case he's assassinated. And that's it. The hitman spends the rest of the movie trying to kill the guy he already murdered. Meanwhile, killing lots of innocent policemen, bodyguards, people in his way, etc. He also might have fallen in love with a hooker with a heart of gold, who he keeps alive for no good reason long after she has stopped being useful. Eventually, he does kill the president and gets rescued by the CIA. By then, I had given up and stopped caring about the film.

I enjoyed this movie. While the film doesn't really bring anything new to the genre, it is a fun time with lots of action. The film was never boring and delivered exactly what one would expect. I know nothing about the game on which this is based, so I can't vouch for its accuracy, but if you are in the mood for some mindless action and violence, you should give it a shot. Recommended.

I don't do video games. Since I didn't know "Hitman" was based on a game, my opinion is based only on the action flick that took me by surprise! "Hitman" begins with just enough exposition to ground the story. Timothy Olyphant quickly establishes that his character, 47, isn't particularly evil. He's just focused and deadly. From then on it's all action and adventure. The production values are better than a lot of big budget action films I've seen lately and there's enough coherence in the script to give sense to the action. Director Xavier Gens engineers just enough interplay between 47 and Nika Boronina (Olga Kurylenko) to give Olyphant's two dimensional character functionality. I think executive producer Vin Diesel made a wise decision casting Olyphant as 47. He plays 47 with the exact discipline you expect from the back story. That consistency glues the loosely woven story together. A few impossible battles seemed a bit cartoonish but, learning 47 comes from a game, it now makes sense. This film's most startling revelation was Olga Kurylenko. She's physically stunning, sensual and feisty. She's also a solid actress who nails the role of a confused sex slave; freed but now with another man to fear. I'm sure Kurylenko will be around the international scene for a long time. Most members panned this film. I disagree. I found the result to be fun and entertaining. Perhaps I like this film because I'm not comparing it's characters to an animation moving only when I wiggle my thumbs. This is the good stuff. Enjoy! I hope my thoughts are Helpful ~~~Wingz

Not the greatest, but quite enjoyable, if you don't mind the ridiculous plot and mediocre acting by Timothy Olyphant. I give it 4 stars for the action, and there was plenty of it. As long as you don't set your expectations too high going in to it, I think you will find this movie very entertaining. It's kind of like Shoot 'em Up, only Shoot 'em Up is even better. If you want believable, look elsewhere.
