Grey's Anatomy: Season 1

Grey’s Anatomy is a soap opera, plain and simple. I love watching this strong cast of young interns struggle to find a balance between the sharp, responsible, professional work they need to do and their ever so messy and human lives. The patients come and go in an episode or two, but the interns never-ending rounds of personal drama and pain keep it all wrapped up together in a well written, witty, sexy way.

Hospital drama is typically fertile ground for successful TV; ER, Chicago Hope, and others over the years have all done well. Perhaps then it was no surprise when this admittedly well written short 9 episode season appeared in the spring of 2005. Mixing soap opera like drama (without the melodrama) with humor and likable characters shot this young series in to the stratosphere of ratings. And I considered one myself one of the faithful. A great introduction to future (longer) seasons and easily digestible at only 9 episodes, I recommend this to anyone who wants to see what the craze was all about.
