Excellent film. I caught it in the theater when I was a kid, and memories of it have haunted me throughout my life. Subdued, realistic performance by Christopher Walken and a nice 'comeback' for the beautiful, late Natalie Wood, who didn't live to see this movie released (drowned in boating accident). Perhaps it's a little dated, but in some ways age has improved this film. It still holds up as a minor masterpiece and a cinematography drool-fest, harkening back to a time before constant quick-cutting and blaring sountracks were used to fool the audience into thinking they are seeing something spectacular.
