Based on the bestseller by Stephen Ambrose, this Emmy-nominated miniseries profiles Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. These men parachuted into France on D-Day, fought the Battle of the Bulge, captured Hitler's Eagle's Nest and, amid extraordinary fear and extraordinary bravery, became heroes and legends. The drama, drawn from journals and letters, is punctuated with interviews with veterans.
This series was great! It had action as well as some drama, and like most 20 somethings I am a huge fan of Ron Livingston. It was great to see him in a different role. Which he portrayed to a T.

Its like Saving Private Ryan, only 10 hours worth. If you liked SPR, you'll love this. Amazing performances given by all, most of whom you've never heard of before. After I finished the last disc, I put the first back in and started over. Yeah, it was that good.

Based on a true story, this high quality WWII mini-series is sincere and inspiring. It also feels very authentic; shot on location, real period costumes and equipment and factually correct. The serial drama is also outstanding as the series follows a group of core characters over long periods of time. And the militaristic action seems historically faithful and makes for some great entertainment as well. I really felt like I was watching a piece of history here. If you're at all interested in the source material, I highly recommend this set.
