Kiki's Delivery Service
In director Hayao Miyazaki's gentle, animated adventure, young witch Kiki (voiced by Kirsten Dunst) moves away from her family to practice her craft, but she finds that making friends in a new town is difficult. With her cat, Jiji (voiced by Phil Hartman), in tow, Kiki puts her broom flying skills to work for a baker's wife by starting an express delivery service. She quickly discovers, however, that she can't take her abilities for granted.

Once Upon a Time in China
Fists and feet fly like lightning bolts when Wong Fei-hung (Jet Li) defends a martial arts school from corrupt government officials, a renegade swordsman and an illegal slave ring. The finale, in an old warehouse, is awesome, with Li using every square inch of the structure in his intricate fight choreography. A classic example of the Hong Kong school of filmmaking.

Once the curse hits and the victim dies, a more powerful curse is spawned, one much deadlier and more difficult to overcome. Directed by Takashi Shimizu, who also helmed the original. The Devil's Backbone
Twelve-year-old Carlos (Fernando Tielve) is the latest arrival at Santa Lucia School, an imposing stone building that shelters orphans of the Republican militia and politicians during the last days of the Spanish Civil War. Carlos gradually uncovers the dark ties that bind the inhabitants of the school: hidden riches, sexual intrigue and the restless ghost of a murdered student, who may be the only one to provide resolution.
The Education of Shelby Knox
In this documentary from Marion Lipschutz and Rose Rosenblatt -- which uses footage shot over a three-year period -- the action unfolds almost effortlessly, revealing a stunning transformation. Small-town Texas teenager Shelby Knox becomes an advocate for sex education (and the local media's so-called "Sex Ed Girl") when she tries to improve the county's sky-high teen pregnancy rate by challenging her high school's policy of teaching abstinence.
The Orphanage

Director Woody Allen's Oscar-nominated comedy set in 1940s Brooklyn draws heavily on his youth -- a time when radio was king. Through vignettes woven together by music from the era, the film focuses on teenage Joe (Seth Green) and his houseful of relatives. His father (Michael Tucker) craves news from Europe, his aunt (Dianne Wiest) is obsessed with marriage and his mother (Julie Kavner) is appalled that Joe's bought a secret decoder ring.
This Is England
Set in 1983, this drama follows a lonely 11-year-old boy named Shaun, grieving over the recent death of his father who was killed fighting in the Falkland War. When he falls in with a gang of young skinheads, Shaun's pain and anger make him susceptible to carrying out the group's hateful agenda. Directed by Shane Meadows, this semiautobiographical film exposes a dark side of modern Britain not often seen in the movies.
