This Is Spinal Tap
This satire about a fictional heavy metal group named Spinal Tap spoofs nearly every facet of rock 'n' roll -- from vacuous modern songwriting to half-baked album promos to pyrotechnic concerts. Chronicling the band's evolution and its calamitous comeback tour is filmmaker Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner).

All the President's Men
The film that launched a thousand journalism school students, All the President's Men chronicles how reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) brought down Richard M. Pakula ratchets up the tension (no small feat, as the outcome is assured).

When his wife (Rachel Weisz, in an Oscar-winning turn for her supporting role) is murdered, Justin begins his own international investigation. Not even the rumors of his wife's affairs will stop him from uncovering the truth -- a conspiracy much larger and more dangerous than he'd imagined.

The Doors
This captivating drama is as much about 1960s music culture as it is about legendary outlaw Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), one of the most influential figures in the history of rock and roll. This electrifying drama chronicles Morrison's rise from obscurity to the pinnacle of the rock and roll music world as lead singer for The Doors, and, finally, to his tragically early death in a Paris bathtub.

Dr. Strangelove
In director Stanley Kubrick's blackly comedic send-up of the nuclear age, deranged American general Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) leads an attack against the Russians that sets the stage for Armageddon. Scott and Slim Pickens also appear in this classic Oscar-nominated satire.

Mean Girls
After growing up abroad, teenager Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) moves to Chicago, where she quickly makes inroads into the most popular clique in high school -- that is, until the ex-boyfriend of one of the clique members falls in love with Cady … then there's hell to pay. Mommie Dearest
Based on Christina Crawford's slanderous, tell-all biography, Mommie Dearest paints a portrait of a Joan Crawford the public never knew. The film portrays Crawford (Faye Dunaway, in an over-the-top performance) as a wicked, abusive mother who lives as though she's perpetually onscreen. In the movie's most memorable scene, Crawford berates her daughter, Christina (Mara Hobel), for improperly hanging her clothes, screaming, "No more wire hangers!"

Monty Python's Life of Brian
The crown princes of British comedy are at it again -- this time, in a send-up of the life and times of Jesus Christ. Perhaps the most controversial (and offensive, to some) Python film, Life of Brian tells the tall tale of a peasant boy born the same night as the Christ child -- in an adjoining stable. Laughs mount as their lives increasingly intersect.

Monty Python's The Meaning of Life: Special Edition
"Every sperm is sacred" ... or didn't you know? The no-holds-barred Pythoners explore the various facets of life and death -- from procreation to death's knell -- in their typical irreverent fashion. Perhaps the film's highlight (and one not for the squeamish) is Graham Chapman and John Cleese in the "world's biggest glutton" sketch (better bring the bucket!).

Sling Blade
A tour de force from writer-director-star Billy Bob Thornton, Sling Blade is the story of Karl Childers, a man released from a psychiatric hospital where he had been incarcerated since age 12 for murdering his mother and her lover. Pushing Tin
Welcome to the fast-paced, superhyped world of air traffic control! Showgirls
An infamous bomb when first released, Showgirls now vies with Mommie Dearest as a camp classic. Nomi Malone (Elizabeth Berkley) travels to Las Vegas with dreams of becoming a showgirl, but ends up working as a stripper where the patrons couldn't care less about her time-step (they're interested in a different kind of time ... and rate!). Kyle MacLachlan and Gina Gershon co-star.

Self-proclaimed executive transvestite and comedian Eddie Izzard brings his stand-up act to the Apollo Theater in Labatt. With topics including the nature of God, the search for a career, classical mythology and Scooby-Doo, Izzard presents intellectual and fast-paced comedy. Eddie Izzard: Circle
Actor-comedian Eddie Izzard stops in at New York City's Town Hall on his "Circle" tour featuring his hilarious and highly original one-man show that comments on various topics of the day. Izzard, as always, delivers a slant that only his particular brand of no-holds-barred flamboyance can pull off.

Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media
Funny and provocative, this 1992 documentary explores the political life and ideas of Noam Chomsky, a world-renowned linguist, intellectual and political activist. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
It's an Armageddon scenario with a Greenpeace subtext when Dr. Aki Ross races against time to keep phantom-like alien invaders from destroying what's left of life on Earth. Stunning animation is the hallmark of this futuristic movie that pits Ross against her arch human antagonist (the hawkish General Hein), who would like to blow the aliens -- and everything else -- to kingdom come.

Lewis Black: Red, White and Screwed
Airing his grievances about pop culture and current events, Grammy-nominated comedian Lewis Black delivers a biting social commentary marked by his trademark aversion to self-censorship. Hot-button topics in this solo stand-up special that was originally filmed for HBO range from the Iraq War, Hurricane Katrina and the effectiveness of FEMA to President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and embarrassing hunting accidents.

Bandidas
With a ruthless despot terrorizing their tiny Mexican town, a pair of oddly matched women -- one a European-educated lady (Salma Hayek) and the other a rough-and-tumble peasant (Penelope Cruz) -- join forces to become two of the most celebrated bank robbers of their time. The bad guys never looked so good -- but their night-and-day backgrounds are bound to clash. Steve Zahn, Joseph D. Reitman, Sam Shepard and Dwight Yoakam co-star.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
Chuck Barris (Sam Rockwell) has it all -- a hot TV hit, "The Gong Show," and the love of a good woman (Drew Barrymore). But he's got one big secret: He's a CIA assassin who kills while purportedly escorting his game show winners on their vacation prizes.
