Batman Begins
This was the most painful movie I've ever forced myself to watch. I can actually hear Nolan firing the entire writing staff. "This is Batman! People will trample eachother to see it and critics will love it no matter how bad it is!" I'm sure the punctuated acting was an attempt at referencing the comic, but there are several points in the movie where you begin mistake Christian Bale for Tom Cruz. With such an impressive cast and existing back story, there is no excuse for this film. No one in our film club felt anything for any of the characters. A few minutes of flashbacks aren't really enough to root a character, especially when the story's already been told. If you want to make a sucessful live action comic, you have to add something to the story. To make matters worse, I am the one that insisted we watch this attrocity. I will surely be banned from selecting a movie for quite a while. Mr Oldman, if you're reading this, for godsake don't ever dress up like a child molester again unless you're playing Jeffery Dahlmer.
